Julian McPhillips will be at Read Herring to celebrate his newest book, Only in Alabama!

Julian McPhillips, long-time attorney of the McPhillips Shinbaum law firm, will be at Read Herring on Thursday, August 22 at 5:30 p.m. to talk about his newest book, Only in Alabama: More Colorful True Stories from a Lawyer’s Life. This title was published by NewSouth Books and will be releasing later this month! Join us for a reception in his honor.

McPhillips has prosecuted numerous civil rights cases in the past forty years. The Associated Press has called him a “Public Watchdog” for his efforts to give minorities the opportunity to work in the state department and his cases against police brutality.

Only in Alabama focuses on McPhillips’s more colorful and interesting cases and clients of the recent few years. The book also offers a snapshot of the charming chaos that surrounds a lawyer’s life and a glimpse of the workings of the city of Montgomery.

Again, join us at Read Herring on August 22 at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
